My personal winterizing boat list

by Al Winco

1- I always "FOG" the motor - remove the spark plugs - spray fogging fluid into the cylinders & replace the plugs.
2- I start to add fuel stabilizer to my gas November 1st and every tankful thereafter
3- Drain the lower unit and replace the gear oil- this prevents freezing if water has gotten into the lower gear case.
4- Leave drain plugs in due to the cover support system, this prevents water, ice & snow from puddling and freezing on the cover.
5- I spray the inside of the engine w/Marine CRC - including all linkage and wires.
6- Place an ample supply on mothballs in the bilge and on top of a rag that is located in all seating areas.

Mice will eat your vinyl and padding like candy.
7- If you remove your hull plugs, pull a long rag thru the drain holes up into the bilge area

This will still allow water to drain while keeping the little critters (mice) out.
8- I have AGM batteries which are left in the boat all year-I do fully charge them before storage.
9- I raise both trailer tires off of the ground w/ jack stands on the axels.
10- I place 2 containers of a moisture collecting material in the boat before covering for the winter.
