 Spring pre-spawn largemouths in weeds and structure:

Use a 4/0 / 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook, Texas rigged. Skin-hook the point  of the hook slightly into the bait after completely rigging “T” style. This bait will perform that enticing spiral on the drop when hooked in the aforementioned method. One dab of PSB Glue keeps the head/eye of the hook in place, inside the bait. Simply apply on the hook eye, then immediately pull the hook inside the bait  and rig Texas style.

Horizontal nose hooking (with a #2 Gamakatsu Octopus circle hook or a 1/0 Owner Mosquito hook) is a very productive technique in open water and rivers but will produce line twist.  We recommend you use a # 2 Spro-Power Swivel (available @ Cabelas) 12" in front of the bait.

Adding a 1/16 Water gremlin “Bull-Shot” in front of the swivel allows a quicker descent in the deep, heavy current smallmouth holes. It is not recommended to place any weight against the nose of the bait.
