These are native fish that reproduce naturally & are usually NOT stocked (like trout) by state fish commissions.  They must attain an age of 12-15 years or more to grow to a length of 17- 18" in most small creeks.  They face repeated threats from floods, droughts, temperature extremes and pollution.  Please don't make yourself their worst enemy!
